PM orders action against those involved in Uttara girder accident

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, August 17: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered action against the persons and company/organization responsible for the BRT project girder accident in Uttara. At the same time, she has asked to blacklist other organizations which neglect these works.

The Prime Minister gave this order on Tuesday (August 16) at the National Economic Council Executive Committee (ECNEC) meeting. After the meeting, State Minister for Planning Dr. Shamsul Alam told Dhaka Post about this.

The Prime Minister presided over the Eknek meeting via video conference from the Gana Bhavan, connected to the NEC conference room in the capital's Sherebangla Nagar. State Minister for Planning Dr. Shamsul Alam and other concerned persons were present in the meeting.

The State Minister said that the Secretary of Road Transport and Highways Department released the preliminary report of Uttara's accident in a meeting. The initial report revealed the negligence of the contractor.

He said that the Prime Minister listened to the incident very attentively and became emotionally involved. The Prime Minister said that action should be taken against all those who are involved in this incident and the company involved. Besides, the Prime Minister asked to blacklist the companies which are negligent and irresponsible.
