Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Nov 8: Stating that there will be no compromise on small rural projects or welfare-oriented projects, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, luxury projects cannot be taken up. A feasibility study should be looked into in depth in taking up big projects.

The Prime Minister said this at the National Economic Council Executive Committee (ECNEC) meeting on Tuesday (November 8).

In the press conference after the ECNEC meeting, Planning Minister MA Mannan highlighted the instructions of the Prime Minister and said that the global recession is going on. Be thrifty along with reducing wastage. Big projects cannot be taken up. Feasibility studies should be looked at in depth in undertaking large projects. The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the strategy with which the commission has been working for a year.

The Planning Minister said that the Prime Minister has instructed the Cabinet Secretary to find the uncultivated land scattered all over the country. The head of government asked the secretary to find these uncultivable lands and make them cultivable with the help of DCs.
