Sheikh Hasina PM orders to control inflation to reduce people's suffering
Dhaka, June 21: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed everyone to work together to control inflation to ease the suffering of the common people of the country.
She said, people are suffering, their suffering should be reduced by reducing inflation.
The Prime Minister gave this instruction in a meeting at the NEC conference room in Sherebangla Nagar of the capital on Tuesday (June 20). Planning Minister MA Mannan briefed the journalists after the meeting.
The Prime Minister said that inflation is causing hardship to people, efforts should be made to reduce it. Use of solar in grassroots irrigation should be increased. Besides, agricultural production should be increased.
She said that the use of solar instead of diesel should be increased in agricultural work. 81 lakh liters of diesel is used in agriculture every year. The Prime Minister also directed to use less land for new projects.
In response to a question from journalists, the Planning Minister said that the Prime Minister is fully aware of the current situation of inflation.
"There should be a concerted effort in the market," he said. "The government is fully aware of that."
In the meeting, Prime Minister instructed to use solar power in all irrigation pumps of the country and said that 81 lakh liters of diesel is consumed in irrigation work every year. Solar panels can be installed for irrigation to reduce its use. If anyone wants to set up solar panels privately, all kinds of cooperation including tax exemption will be provided.
The PM also said that the solar panels should be placed a little higher during construction. He directed the Agriculture Minister to see whether various vegetables, spices and fish can be grown under it.
The Planning Minister said that the Prime Minister has ordered the construction of sheds in Haor region to reduce the death due to lightning. He also instructed to use less land for government office or project implementation. At the same time, by ordering to increase the use of foreign aid in the pipeline, the head of government said that there is a need to increase foreign loans in the current dollar crisis.
The Prime Minister asked to install the solar panels a little higher while making them. So that various vegetables, spices and fish can be cultivated under it.
