PM pays tribute to the memory of Bangabandhu on his Homecoming Day

Dhaka, January 11: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has paid deep tribute to the memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on his Homecoming Day.

The Prime Minister paid tribute to the great leader by placing a wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation kept in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in Dhanmondi on Tuesday morning. After laying the wreath, the Prime Minister stood in silence for a while paying deep respect to the memory of Bangabandhu, the architect of Bangladesh's independence.

Along with the central leaders of Bangladesh Awami League, party president Sheikh Hasina on behalf of her party also placed another wreath on Bangabandhu's portrait.

Bangabandhu, the undisputed leader of the nation and the supreme commander of the country's liberation war, returned to the holy land of independent Bangladesh on January 10, 1972, via London and New Delhi after spending 290 days in a Pakistani jail. Since then, the nation is observing the day as the Father of the Nation's Homecoming Day.

On the occasion of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's homecoming day, the Central Awami League and its allied organizations paid tribute at Bangabandhu's tomb in Tungipara, Gopalganj.

Leaders of Awami League paid deep respect by placing a floral wreath at Bangabandhu's altar under the leadership of Lt. Col. (retd.) Muhammad Farooq Khan, member of Awami League's presidium on Tuesday at 11 am. Members of Awami League Central Executive Parliament Anwar Hossain, Sahabuddin Faraji and Iqbal Hossain Apu and others were present.

After that, Zilla Parishad Chairman Bir Muktijoddha Advocate Munsi Md. Atiyar Rahman, Gopalganj District and Tungipara Upazila Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League paid their respects. After the tribute, Fateha was recited and special prayers were offered for the souls of Bangabandhu and his martyred family members.

Besides, Deputy Commissioner of Gopalganj Kazi Mahbubul Alam, Superintendent of Police Ayesha Siddika paid tribute to the Homecoming Day by laying flowers on the altar of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's mausoleum in Tungipara.
