PM seeks China's cooperation in development of country's southern part
Dhaka, April 3: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sought China's cooperation in the development of the southern region of Bangladesh.
Sheikh Hasina sought this cooperation when Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen met the Prime Minister on Wednesday at her official residence Ganabhaban.
After the meeting, Prime Minister's speech writer Md. Nazrul Islam quoted her in a press conference and said, "Direct road communication has already been established with the southern part of the country through the Padma Bridge. I want China to help develop the southern part of Bangladesh."
Sheikh Hasina told the Chinese ambassador that the southern part of the country has been neglected for so long because no other government except Awami League has taken effective steps to develop this area.
The Chinese ambassador requested the Prime Minister to give concrete proposals for the development of the southern part of Bangladesh. Yao Wen invited Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to visit China in July.
