PM Sheikh Hasina named in list of 100 influential women in the world

Forbes published this list by selecting 100 influential women who have played leading roles in politics, human services, business, media, economy and technology around the world. Politicians and lawmakers topped this year's Forbes Most Powerful Women list. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is number 1 on this year's list. Then there is European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde, US Vice President Kamala Harris is in third place.

Besides, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is in the fourth position. And Taylor Swift is at the fifth place in the list.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is ranked 46th in the list of 100 most influential women in the world. Last year, Sheikh Hasina was ranked 42nd in this list. Earlier, Sheikh Hasina was ranked 43rd in the list of 100 influential women in the world in 2021. And in 2020, she was at the 39th place in the list.

Forbes wrote about Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Hasina Wazed, the longest-serving Prime Minister in the history of Bangladesh, is currently serving her fourth term. She is also the world's longest-serving female head of government. Sheikh Hasina is in power in Bangladesh for the third consecutive term. Her party Bangladesh Awami League won 288 out of 300 seats in the 2018 December 30 election.

However, Sheikh Hasina is going to contest the January 2024 election for a 5th term despite growing calls for her resignation from the opposition, the magazine says. Besides, there are allegations of voter suppression against him. However, he denied these allegations.
