PM Sheikh Hasina pays tribute to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman

Dhaka, 7 June 2023 : Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of the historic Six Points Day.

On Wednesday (June 7) morning, she paid tribute to the portrait of the Father of the Nation in front of Bangabandhu Bhavan at 32 Dhanmondi in the capital.

On this day, first as Prime Minister and later as Awami League President, Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to the top leaders of the party.

After the Prime Minister's tribute, the leaders and activists of Awami League and the party's organs and affiliated organizations paid tribute to Bangabandhu's portrait.

On June 7, 1966, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman announced the beginning of a nationwide intense mass movement in favor of the six-point demand of the Bengali nation's liberation charter.

Bangabandhu raised a six-point demand in the subject committee of the conference held in Lahore on February 5, 1966 based on the Tashkent Agreement and requested the concerned to take necessary measures to place it on the agenda of the conference the next day. This year marks the 57th anniversary of Six Points Day.

Bangabandhu announced the beginning of intense nationwide mass movement in favor of the 6-point demand of the Bengali nation's liberation charter. On this day in 1966, Bengal's independence movement clearly reached a new level. Through this, the outline of freedom is drawn. In the continuation of the 6-point movement-struggle, the Bengali independence movement turned into a freedom struggle.

On the occasion of the day, President Md. Sahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages. Various political, social and cultural organizations, including the ruling Awami League, have undertaken various programs.
