PM Sheikh Hasina urges filmmakers to create family oriented movies

Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon filmmakers and artisans to make films that can be seen with family members to bring people to the cinema hall.

He said this while joining the distribution ceremony of National Film Awards-2019 from Ganobhaban on Sunday (January 18).

Emphasizing on making films suitable for children, the Prime Minister said the government would extend all possible help in making good movies using modern digital technology. He said that the film can contribute not only to the artists and artisans, but also to the betterment of the people of the country. In addition to inspiring the people of the country with the spirit of the war of liberation, the film should be made with the aim of making the history of victory known to the next generation.

Commenting on the good signs of the young society coming forward in film making, the head of government said, the young society has come a long way. It is really a matter of great joy for us. The industry will move forward. We are getting old, we are here today, there is no tomorrow, the interest of young people has increased, it is a good sign for us that they have come forward.

Meanwhile, a special fund of Tk 1,000 crore is being set up under the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to bring back the golden days of cinema. From this fund, all the cinema halls which have been closed with low interest loans can be reopened. All the existing cinema halls can be modernized and new cinema halls can be built with low interest loans up to the upazila level.

Information Minister Hasan Mahmud said this.

He said the fund is going to be launched very soon. After the launch of this fund, not only the golden day of Bangladeshi film, the film industry will rise to a new level, our film will be able to take a place in the world market beyond the borders of the country.

The Information Minister said that the project of constructing one information complex in each district on the directive of the Prime Minister has been approved a few days ago, through which information centers and cineplexes will be constructed in 26 districts initially. They will play an important role in the development of the film industry.
