Dhaka, May 14: The government wants to ensure that 100 percent masks are worn to prevent coronavirus infection. Therefore, the police is being given executive power to take action against those who do not wear masks. Initiatives have been taken to give this power to the police by amending the Infectious Diseases (Prevention, Control and Eradication) Act, 2018.

The state minister for public administration said this on Thursday (May 13). He said, "We see a lot of people going out. It is not a matter of wearing 100% masks. In that case, our plan is to make sure to wear 100% masks. People come from different places, including district cities, city corporations and municipalities." We plan to wear 100% masks in these connectivity areas. We have plans to amend the existing law (Infectious Diseases Prevention, Control and Eradication Act, 2018) to see if the police can be given executive powers. I'm talking about it. Because we can't keep it that way for long. "

Asked when the law will be amended, Farhad Hossain said, "It will be amended by a presidential ordinance. The secretary will go to the committee. Thoughts are afoot to amend it soon."

He added, "We have to make a long-term plan. We have to carry out activities, we have to wear masks. Our goal is to ensure 100% wearing of masks."

"It's not possible with a few mobile courts. People have to be alerted everywhere. You don't wear a mask, you wear a mask, then walk - we have to have people everywhere to say that," the state minister said.

Farhad Hossain said, "Some people are not wearing masks, they are doing wrong. They will be affected. They will cry."
