Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Sept 10: The police dispersed the blockade programme of the job seekers at Shahbag intersection of the capital demanding that the age limit for government jobs be increased to 35 years.

On Friday (September 9) at around 4 pm, a group of job seekers started protesting by blocking the road at Shahbag junction under the banner of 'Employee Youth Generation, Bangladesh'.

As a result of the protestors' presence at the Shahbag intersection, traffic jams were created on the surrounding roads, and the police were also stationed there to control the situation. Later around 5 pm, the police dispersed the protesters with batons and took some protesters to the police station. Later they went separately in front of Shahbag Police Station and National Museum and raised slogans.

Sajid Setu, one of the coordinators of the protestors, said that at least eight protesters were injured as police restored to baton charge during our peaceful programme. Two of the injured, Sonia and Shaon, are critical. Some were arrested by the police and taken to the police station. But released all except one named Tanjid. We will stay in front of the Shahbagh National Museum until Tanjid is released.
