ASEAN President attends ASEAN Summit in Jakarta
Own correspondent, Dhaka, 6 September 2023: The 43rd Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has started in Jakarta, Indonesia. President Md. Shahabuddin joined the conference on the special invitation of ASEAN Chair Indonesia President Joko Widodo.
The President and his wife Professor Dr. Rebecca Sultana were welcomed by the President of Indonesia when they arrived at the Jakarta Convention Center to attend the opening ceremony on the morning of Tuesday, September 5.
In addition to ASEAN member countries and its partner countries, heads of state and government of several countries are participating in this three-day conference. Chairperson of the National Advisory Committee on Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders Saima Wazed and Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen accompanied the President at the inauguration ceremony. Later, President Md Shahabuddin participated in a photo session with ASEAN leaders.
The President will attend a dinner hosted by the President of Indonesia tomorrow, Wednesday. Besides, the President will attend the 18th East Asia Summit at the Jakarta Convention Center on September 7. Apart from attending the ASEAN and East Asia Summits, he will also meet with the heads of state and government of various countries including the President of Indonesia.
