President calls upon all to work to uphold Bangabhaban's dignity

Dhaka, April 18: President Md. Abdul Hamid has called upon the officers and employees of Bangabhaban to work together to uphold the dignity and honour of Bangabhaban.

President Hamid said this at a farewell reception organized on behalf of the employees and officials of Bangabhaban before Iftar on Monday.

Referring to Bangabhaban as the country's 'highest office', the head of nation said that every official and employee should take care not to behave with any outsider in such a way that the dignity of Bangabhaban is lost. He expressed the hope that all concerned will maintain the image of Bangabhaban beautifully despite the hardships.

Referring to various activities of long 10 years at Bangabhaban, the President said, "Although I am a President, I consider myself as a common man of the country as a public representative."

Abdul Hamid said, "I consider the post of president as a responsibility. In 10 long years, I have never seen the maids, servants or employees in the eyes of negligence. The President expressed sincere thanks to all the officers and employees for their cooperation in the ten years of Bangabhaban."

He said, "My door is always open for you. Come when needed."

President Hamid was also felicitated by the officers and employees of Bangabhaban.

Abdul Hamid will hand over his duties on April 24 after completing his two terms as president for 10 years, 1 month and 3 days. The newly elected President Md. Shahabuddin will take the oath of office on that day.

President's Secretary Sahad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Salah Uddin Islam, Press Secretary Md. Joynal Abedin, Secretary (Joint) Md. Wahidul Islam Khan and representatives of various levels of officials and employees of Bangabhaban spoke at the reception.

Later the President attended the Iftar with all the officers and employees. He exchanged greetings with everyone.
