Dhaka, Oct 4: President Md. Shahabuddin called upon patriotic businessmen and entrepreneurs to build resistance against corruption and misdeeds. He made this call at the 'Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Award 2022' ceremony at the capital's Osmani Memorial Auditorium on Tuesday.

The President said that you have to build resistance against corruption and misdeeds. In any situation, the government will always be by your side and encourage you.

He said that it is possible to achieve the capacity to build a developed Bangladesh within the year 2041 by making use of all the existing possibilities in the country's industrial development.

Shahabuddin said, in the meantime, there has been a shift from traditional to digital programs in the activities of the Ministry of Industry and it will not take much time to move from digital to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's smart programme.

He said, currently our slogan will be 'Sustainable industrialization is the philosophy of Smart Bangladesh.'

The President also urged to accelerate the socio-economic development of the country and contribute to the construction of Sonar Bangla, the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Referring to the existing business and investment friendly environment in the country, the President said, the government has developed 100 special economic zones to attract domestic and foreign investment in the industrial sector. But the ultra-profiteering attitude of a class of unscrupulous businessmen and the dream of becoming a big man overnight is having an adverse effect on the country's business and the suffering of the people is increasing. The entire business community cannot be held responsible for the misdeeds of a few.

He appreciated the important role of the businessmen and entrepreneurs of the country in the service of the poor and humanity besides the welfare of the workers.

Mentioning that international politics is about workers, the President said that some evil gangs choose one or two and make anti-national plots by talking about their human rights. He also requested the concerned authorities to consider giving fair dues and rights to the workers in the industries on a priority basis.

In the event, 12 industrialists including owners of heavy, medium, small, micro and cottage and high-tech industrial units in 6 categories were awarded the 'Bangabandhu Shilpa Puraskar 2022' for their outstanding contribution in their respective fields.

The President said that this award is a unique state recognition for industrial entrepreneurs or institutions, which will encourage and motivate them to invest in sustainable industrialization and create new entrepreneurs.

He hoped, following the awardees, other businessmen, industrialists and exporters would be encouraged to expand trade and investment in the country in the coming days.
