President Hamid calls for justice by reducing the suffering of justice seekers

Dhaka, November 12: President Mohammad Abdul Hamid has called upon the Supreme Court to take appropriate steps to ensure justice in the current context by reducing the suffering of the seekers. He made the call to the judges while accepting the 'Annual Report of the Supreme Court-2019' at Bangabhaban on Wednesday evening.

The President hoped that the judiciary would be able to bring the benefits of independence to the doorsteps of the people by ensuring justice for the people.

President's Press Secretary Md. Joynal Abedin told BSS that a delegation of judges led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain met President Md Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban and submitted the report. During the meeting, the Chief Justice briefed the President on various aspects of the annual report.

The Chief Justice also briefed the President on the overall activities of the Supreme Court, especially during the Covid-19 period.

The President thanked all concerned, including the officers and employees of the judiciary, for conducting the proceedings in a virtual manner during the pandemic.

He said that many officials and employees of the judiciary have been affected by corona and many have died. The continuation of the judicial process is undoubtedly commendable.

The other members of the delegation are Justice Mohammad Iman Ali, Justice Mirza Hossain Haider, Justice Tariq-ul-Karim, Justice Obaidul Hasan, Justice Syed Rifat Ahmed, Justice Md. Ashfaqul Islam and Justice Naima Haider. Concerned secretaries of the President were present at the time.
