Dhaka, October 26: President Abdul Hamid has returned home after a 15-day visit to Germany and the United Kingdom for health check-ups and eye treatment. He returned home on a VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines on Tuesday morning.

Munshi Jalal Uddin, Deputy Press Secretary to the President, said a VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the President and his entourage landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:40 am.

The President was received at the airport by the Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps Archbishop George Kocheri, British High Commissioner to Dhaka Robert Chatterton Dixon, Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam, Chief of Naval Staff, Air Force Chief (Operations), Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister's Office, Senior Secretary, Department of Public Security, Ministry of Home Affairs and other concerned senior civilian and military officials.

Earlier, the President left London's Heathrow Airport for Dhaka at 5:50 pm (London time). Bangladesh High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Saida Muna Tasneem and senior officials of the Bangladesh Mission in London bade farewell to the President at the airport. Earlier, on October 9, the President and his wife Rashida Khanam left Dhaka for Berlin, the capital of Germany.

He arrived in London from Berlin on 19 October.

President Abdul Hamid, 77, has been suffering from glaucoma for a long time. When he was the Speaker of the National Assembly, he had health check-ups in London and Germany.
