President inspects progress of Mithamain Cantonment's construction

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, August 25: President Md. Abdul Hamid inspected the work progress of several development projects including under construction Mithamain Cantonment in Mithamain Upazila of Kishoreganj.

On Wednesday (August 24) afternoon, when the President reached the cantonment area of ​​Mithamain Upazila, he was welcomed by Engineer-in-Chief Major General Md. Zubair Saleheen and some high-ranking military officers. Later a brief picture of the under-construction cantonment was shown through power point presentation.

Mithamain Cantonment is being constructed on 275 acres of land. Land leveling and elevation work have already been completed. The arrow protection programme was also completed in April this year.

Brigadier General Zakaria informed the President about the overall progress of the construction. Later, the President visited a site of the 275-acre under-construction cantonment area in a boat. He also planted a banyan sapling in the cantonment.

Earlier, the President inspected the work progress of the 'President Abdul Hamid Foundation' in front of his ancestral residence.

The President came on a four-day visit last Monday (August 22) to oversee some ongoing development projects in the three upazilas of his home district - Mithamain, Ashtagram, and Itna and to exchange views with local public representatives, well-wishers, and professionals.
