President leaves for Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj

Dhaka, June 23: President Mohammad Sahabuddin left Dhaka for Saudi Arabia on Friday on a 10-day visit to perform the Holy Haj as a royal guest of the Saudi government. A VVIP aircraft of Biman Bangladesh Airlines (Flight No: BG 331), the President, his wife Dr. Rebekah Sultana and entourage left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 2.30 pm.

Apart from the President's family members, Prime Minister's Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman Fazlur Rahman, Bangabhaban secretaries and related important senior officials are with the President.

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, Dean of Diplomatic Corps, Cabinet Secretary, Chiefs of the three forces, Inspector General of Police (IGP) and senior civil and military officials bid farewell to the President at the airport's VVIP lounge.

When arriving at Jeddah airport at 6:30 pm Bangladesh time, the Deputy Governor of Makkah region, Prince Badr bin Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, the ambassador of Bangladesh in Saudi Arabia. Mohammad Javed Patwari and embassy officials welcomed Mohammad Sahabuddin.

According to the programme, the head of state will stay there at the Al Safa Royal Palace. After the completion of all Hajj procedures, President Sahabuddin will go to Madinah on July 1 for Rawza Mubarak Ziarat of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

Completing a 10-day visit to Saudi Arabia including Hajj and Ziarat, the President will depart for Dhaka on July 2 from Prince Mohammad Bin Abdul Aziz International Airport in Madinah in a VVIP aircraft of Biman Bangladesh Airlines (Flight Number: BG338).
