President Md. Shahabuddin leaves for Jakarta to attend Asean Summit

Dhaka, Sept 4: President Md. Shahabuddin on Monday morning left for Indonesia's Jakarta to attend the 43rd ASEAN Summit and the 18th East Asia Summit to be held on September 5-7.

A regular Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying the President, his wife Professor Rebecca Sultana and other entourage left for Jakarta at 8:30 am from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

Bangladesh National Advisory Committee on Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders Chairperson Saima Wazed, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen and others accompanied the President during this official trip.

President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin said that Indonesian President and Asean Chair for 2023 Joko Widodo had invited Bangladesh President Md. Shahabuddin for this visit.

The ASEAN Summit with the theme of "Asian Matters : Epicenter of Growth" will be held for three days.

The President of Bangladesh will attend the "East Asia Summit" on September 7 besides the ASEAN Summit.

Besides, the President will deliver the closing speech on "Strengthening Regional Architecture to Support the Epicentrum of Growth from the Perspective of IORA" as the "Guest of Chair".

He will also hold separate bilateral meetings with Indonesian President Joko Widodo and the heads of state of Thailand, Malaysia and Timor-Leste.

On September 6, President will attend a "Gala Dinner" hosted by the President of Indonesia at Hutan Kota Gelora Bung Karno.

From Jakarta, President Shahabuddin will travel to Singapore with his wife for a health check-up.

The President is expected to return home from Singapore on September 16 as per the revised schedule.
