President pays tribute at Bangabandhu's Tomb

Dhaka, April 27: President Md Sahabuddin paid deep respect to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreath at his tomb in Tungipara on Wednesday. The Head of State went to Tungipara by road via Padma Bridge along with his family members and Bangabhaban officials.

After taking oath as the 22nd President of Bangladesh, the brave freedom fighter and veteran politician Md. Sahabuddin paid his first state tribute at the tomb of the Father of the Nation. Meanwhile, a group of army, navy and air forces gave the state salute and the bugle sounded a melodious tune. President Sahabuddin participated in grave visitation, prayers and prayers there.

In the prayer, the departed souls of Bangabandhu and other martyrs of August 15 are prayed for. The President also signed the visitor's book kept in the tomb premises. Later, the president's family also laid wreaths at Bangabandhu's mausoleum.

Earlier, the President's motorcade started from Bangabhaban at 10:30 in the morning and reached the tomb of Bangabandhu, the greatest Bengali of all time, at Tungipara at 12:45 in the afternoon. On reaching there, senior administration officials including Colonel (retd) Farooq Khan, Sheikh Salahuddin Jewel, Sheikh Helal Uddin and Sheikh Sarhan Nasser Tanmoy MP and local political leaders welcomed the President.

The President was accompanied by his wife Dr. Rebecca Sultana and son Mohammad Arshad Adnan Roni along with family members and close relatives, secretaries of the President and senior civil and military officials.

On his way to Tungipara, the President stopped for a few minutes in the middle of the Padma Bridge and took photographs with family members. The President returned to Bangabhaban at 5:30 pm.
