Dhaka, February 9: President Md. Abdul Hamid is a lively man. He was successful as president. He performed his duties efficiently. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said these while participating in the discussion of the motion of thanks on the speech given by President Md. Abdul Hamid in the National Parliament on Wednesday.

She said, "This speech is probably his last speech. Because according to our constitution, no one can be president for more than two consecutive terms."

Pointing out that the president started politics as a student, Sheikh Hasina said, "I think he has come to the end of his time as a very lively president and has given speeches. He also kept the National Parliament alive as Speaker and Deputy Speaker. He has performed his duties very efficiently."

Pointing out that the status of Bangladesh has increased internationally, the head of government said that the government has built the Padma Setu with its own funding. It was challenging. This one decision has changed the image of Bangladesh internationally. Those who used to think that Bangladesh will never be able to stand up. Those who came after 1975, had that effort. Today the international status of Bangladesh has increased. We have proved that we can.

The Prime Minister spoke about Dhaka's air pollution in Parliament. She said, "Dhaka city is very small. Many populations. Lots of cars on the road. Due to which air and environment are damaged. Those of us who say Dhaka is bad, not suitable for living... they live in Dhaka. No one goes out of Dhaka."

The Prime Minister said, "The environment outside Dhaka is very clean. But still, we have to stay in Dhaka. We will scold Dhaka, stay again, how about it? It can't be."

He said, "Even then, our efforts are endless. Dhaka had many canals and lakes. They have been ruined by Ayub Khan, Ziaur Rahman, Ershad, Khaleda Zia."
