President, Prime Minister pay tribute to martyred intellectuals

Dhaka, December 14: President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to the best children of the nation at the Martyred Intellectual Memorial in Mirpur.

On Wednesday (December 14) at 7 am, first the President, then the Prime Minister paid tribute to the martyred intellectuals by placing wreaths. They stood there in silence for some time. At this time the bugle sounded a mournful tune.

After laying wreaths, the President and Prime Minister spoke to the family members of the martyred intellectuals and inquired about them. At that time, advisors of the Prime Minister, members of parliament, chiefs of three forces, high-ranking government officials, senior leaders of Awami League and leaders and workers of the organization of the party were present. Later, Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina along with party leaders paid tribute to the martyrs.

Apart from this, the leaders and workers of Awami League's subsidiary organizations including Jubo League, Swachhasebak League, Mahila League, Chhatra League paid tribute to the martyred intellectuals with flowers. The intellectual memorial was then opened to the general people so that they can pay their respects.
