President returns home after visiting Germany and UK

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Nov 18: President Md. Abdul Hamid returned home after a 20-day visit to Germany and the UK for health check-up and eye treatment.

A Bangladesh Biman VVIP flight (BG202) carrying the President, his wife Rashida Khanum and entourage landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport today (Thursday) at 11:05 am. The plane carrying the President left London for Dhaka at midnight last night.

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Cabinet Secretary, three army chiefs, Chief SDG Affairs Coordinator of the Prime Minister's Office, Foreign Secretary, Home Secretary, IGP and other military and civilian officials welcomed the President at the airport.

The President left Dhaka in the early hours of October 29 for the German capital Berlin for a health check-up. From there he reached London on November 5. The 78-year-old President has been suffering from glaucoma for a long time. During his tenure as the Speaker of the National Parliament, he used to undergo health check-ups in London and Berlin.
