President urges Brunei to take more manpower from Bangladesh

Dhaka: President Abdul Hamid called on the government of Brunei to hire more manpower from Bangladesh for the greater benefit of both countries.

The president also called on Bruneian businessmen to invest in Bangladesh, noting that there is an investment-friendly environment in Bangladesh.

Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Haji Hassanal Balkiah Muizzaddin Waddaulah, who is visiting Dhaka, made this call during a courtesy meeting with the President at Bangabhaban on Saturday (October 15). President Brunaire welcomed Sultan to Bangladesh and said that Sultan's first visit to Bangladesh marked the beginning of a new chapter in the relations between the two brotherly countries.

The head of state also mentioned that Bangladesh attaches importance to the development of relations with Southeast Asian countries.

He hoped for Brunei's support in getting Bangladesh's ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partner status. Besides, the President thanked the Sultan of that country for giving free corona vaccine to expatriate Bangladeshis working in Brunei. He also emphasized on increasing communication between the two countries at the public-private level to increase trade and commerce.

The President thanked the Sultan of Brunei for supporting Bangladesh on the Rohingya issue and expressed hope that the country's support to Bangladesh on this issue would continue in the future. He sought the cooperation of the Sultan for the speedy return of the Rohingyas to their country.

Meanwhile, the Sultan of Brunei appreciated the socio-economic development of Bangladesh and assured cooperation in all fields in the future.

After the meeting, Sultan signed the visitors book of Banga Bhavan. Earlier in the evening, when he arrived at Bangabhaban, the President greeted him with a bouquet of flowers.
