President visits Mithamain Cantonment

Dhaka, February 18: President Md. Abdul Hamid inspected the construction progress of the newly built cantonment at Mithamain in Kishoreganj. On Friday, he visited the construction work of 'Mithamain Cantonment'. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate this cantonment on February 28.

A spokesperson of Banga Bhaban said that the Prime Minister will inaugurate the newly constructed 'Mithamain Cantonment' located very close to President Abdul Hamid's ancestral residence at Mithamain in Kishoreganj on February 28.

Earlier, the Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of Armed Forces Department Lieutenant General Walker-uz-Zaman welcomed the President when he reached the cantonment area of Mithamain Upazila. He briefed the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces on the overall progress of the construction of the cantonment to the President.

Members of Parliament Rezwan Ahmed Tawfiq and Md. Afzal Hossain, Secretary of the President's Office Sahad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Salahuddin Islam, Press Secretary Md. Zainal Abedin, and Secretary (Attached) Md. Wahidul Islam Khan were with the President.

The President reached Mithamain in Kishoreganj last Wednesday afternoon on a three-day visit to oversee several ongoing development projects in his home district. During the visit, he exchanged views with local public representatives and professionals of Mithamain, Etna and Ashtagram. After the visit, he returned to Dhaka on Friday evening.
