Own Correspondent, Dhaka, January 10: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked the people of Bangladesh to get vaccinated without unnecessary fear to fight off the Covid-19 and its new Omicron variant.

She said arrangements are being made for the well-being of the people of the country and to ensure that not a single person is deprived of vaccination. About 31 crore doses of vaccine have been arranged. In the meantime, more than 13 crore doses of vaccine have been administered across the country. Besides first and second doses, booster doses are also being given.

While laying the foundation stone for 100-bed cancer treatment centres in eight divisional cities across the country on Sunday (January 9), she said these. The Prime Minister urged the people to adhere to the rules of hygiene including wearing masks and avoiding public gatherings to stay free from corona infection.

She said the new variant of corona, Omicron, has put children at greater risk. That is why 12-year-old children are being vaccinated. Children under 12 years will be vaccinated in future which is subject to the World Health Organization (WHO)'s approval.
