Dhaka, May 16: Asking the critics of the government's development to travel around the country, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, "Even after talking a lot, you will say, we are not allowed to talk."

She said this while addressing the 'Second National Conference on SDG Implementation Review, 2022' at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital on Monday. She joined the function via video conference from the Prime Minister's official residence Ganobhaban.

Sheikh Hasina said, "Many people sitting in Dhaka criticize me. I am requesting them to visit all over Bangladesh. You will understand where the change has come from and how much it has been. You can find out by contacting the village level."

She said that now everyone can talk and do talk shows through television. "Of course I know, many will say after talking a lot, we are not allowed to talk. But when you talk on the talk show, no one is restraining you or holding your throat. Everyone can say whatever they want."

The head of government said, "Many may now criticize and say, why is it being done? Why nuclear power? So much money has been spent. Everyone just looks at the cost. But they probably do not consider what will be the benefit of this expenditure in Narayanganj or how much it will contribute to our economy, how much our development will be dynamic, how much it will change people's lives. It is very sad."

She said the development of communication system in the country's waterways is absolutely essential. "As the waterways increase, so will the transportation of human goods. People's travel will increase, the economy will be active. It will be easier to market products produced at the grassroots level. Which will make our economy more dynamic and our grassroots people will benefit the most from economic development."

Sheikh Hasina said, "My goal is to change the fate of the farmers, workers and working people of our country. All the issues in the SDGs that apply to us, we have implemented and will continue to implement."

He said that when these projects are completed or people enjoy the benefits, the wheel of the economy of this country will be more dynamic, moving, and poverty will be alleviated. "We can improve the standard of living for people of the country."
