Dhaka, June 3: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon the Hajj pilgrims to maintain the image of the country by abiding by Saudi law while performing Hajj. She said his government has taken various steps to reduce harassment of Hajj pilgrims. In addition, the management of Hajj has been greatly improved by relying on modern technology.

Inaugurating the Hajj program on Friday, Sheikh Hasina wished blessings to the Hajj pilgrims for the overall well-being of the country. Because, the progress of the path of economic development should continue.

Inaugurating the Hajj Program 2022, the Prime Minister said, "It is our duty to ensure that those who are going to perform Hajj can perform Hajj and worship properly."

Calling Islam a "religion of peace" and a "supreme religion", the prime minister called on the pilgrims to protect their dignity and to uphold the country's image by abiding by Saudi law during the Hajj.

From her official residence Ganobhaban, the Prime Minister was virtually joined by Ashkona Hodge Camp in the capital at a function organized by the Ministry of Religion.

"Through the Road to Mecca Initiative, we have been able to make our Hajj management more technology dependent," she said. "Immigration is done in Dhaka, there is no harassment. The Saudi government has taken steps to ensure that the luggage reaches its destination. Dedicated air service is being provided."

Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Tourism Mahbub Ali and Saudi Ambassador to Dhaka Isa Bin Yusuf Al Duhailan addressed the function as special guests under the chairmanship of State Minister for Religion Md. Faridul Haq Khan.

In her speech, the Prime Minister highlighted the various initiatives of the Father of the Nation for the propagation of Islam and quoted a few excerpts from his historic radio address before the 1970 general election on the theme of Islam being "establishment of peace and justice". Bangabandhu said, "We believe in the Islam of justice. Our Islam is the Islam of Hazrat Nabi Kareem (SAW). That Islam has taught the people of the world the infallible mantra of justice and fairness."
