Prime Minister Hasina inaugurates INTERPA conference

Dhaka, September 12: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the '11th INTERPA Conference' in Dhaka with the heads of police training academies of different countries around the world. On Monday (September 12), she announced the opening of the three-day conference by joining virtually at the main event organized at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and Senior Secretary Md Akhtar Hossain, Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs were present as special guests in the main event.

President of INTERPA and Rector of Turkish National Police Academy Prof. Dr. Yilmaz Kolak was present as the honored guest in the ceremony presided over by IGP Benazir Ahmed.

One hundred and twenty-seven delegates from 45 countries are participating in this conference which started with the theme 'Digitalization in Policing'. This INTERPA conference is being held with the aim of increasing inter-relationship, exchange of skills and experience between police training institutes of different countries.

Seventy-six police training academies or institutes from 59 countries are members of INTERPA. Its headquarters are in Turkey. Its operations are conducted from Turkey. INTERPA holds conferences in different countries every year.

The 10th conference was held in Turkey in 2021. And this year (2022) it is being held in Bangladesh under the management of Bangladesh Staff College.

The police headquarters says that this conference will play an effective role in increasing the efficiency of the police. Two paper presentations will be held at the conference on the opening day.

Tomorrow, Tuesday (September 13), the heads of police academies of different countries who participated in the conference will go to the burial place of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Tungipara, Gopalganj. They will pay their respects there.

Bangladesh Police chief Dr. Benazir Ahmed will be the chief guest on the last day of the conference on September 14. There will be some paper presentations on that day. Where different subjects of police training academy of different countries will be highlighted. It will discuss about the policing activities of different countries. At this time, there will be a discussion about various challenges and dynamism in conducting policing activities.
