Prime Minister Hasina inaugurates Joyeeta Tower

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 17 October 2023: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the newly constructed Joyeeta Tower in Dhanmondi area of the capital. She on Tuesday unveiled the inaugural plaque of the tower and visited the Jamdani Gallery and Joyeeta Marketplace installed in the tower. Sheikh Rehana, younger daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and younger sister of Prime Minister, was present at the inauguration ceremony.

Artists of Bangladesh Shishu Academy welcomed the Prime Minister and her younger sister with songs and dances. These artists also took pictures with them. The Prime Minister later visited various parts of the tower and signed the visitor's book.

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatun Nessa Indira, Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Najma Mubarek and Managing Director of Joyeeta Foundation Afroza Khan were present.

According to Ministry officials, Joyeeta Tower has been constructed with state-of-the-art physical infrastructure facilities to ensure women's economic empowerment by involving women entrepreneurs of the country in various business ventures under the Joyeeta brand.

Jayita Tower has facilities to market a variety of processed products, supply chains and services produced by women entrepreneurs in the country. The building has physical infrastructure facilities for training women entrepreneurs based on knowledge, skills, business management and development strategies.

It has ample car parking facility and spacious lobby as it will also house the headquarters of Joyeeta Foundation.

Joyeeta Iconic Tower has childcare centre, design centre, beauty parlour, gymnasium for women, swimming pool for women and children, multipurpose hall, seminar hall, bank, food-court and cafe. Besides, e-Joita online marketplace has been launched.

On December 1, 2021, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation stone for the construction of 12-storey Joyeeta Tower at a cost of Tk 168 crore on 27 (old) road of Dhanmondi in the capital.

Earlier, Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Joyeeta Foundation program on November 16, 2011 with the aim of economic empowerment of women in Bangladesh. In the meantime, the government has allocated one bigha of land to each section of the country at a nominal price.

The Joyeeta program was launched with the aim of building women-friendly individual marketing networks across the country by starting the Joyeeta program in the division, district and upazila.
