Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 1 March 2024: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed the police to prepare to fight technology-based crime. She said, new crimes are emerging with the advancement of technology. The police should be prepared to suppress them properly. She said this while addressing senior police officers at the Prime Minister's office on Thursday, February 29.

The Prime Minister said, "As the technology advances, so do the crimes. New levels of crime are emerging. Let our police force be prepared to deal with them appropriately. We are very careful and paying attention to this. Because, along with crime, we deal with it If the system does not work, it cannot be (dealt with) properly."

She said, "We all want to treat the women, men and children at any work place and serve them. Referring to the police as 'friends of the people', the head of government said, our police force is now working as a friend of the people. People are not afraid of the police like before, people have regained their trust in the police. Common people now consider the police as a friend, a place of trust."

Sheikh Hasina said, "The cases of setting fire, killing the police, throwing the police into the fire, these cases are not properly conducted. I think if the cases and punishment of those who commit such crimes are speedy, then no one else will have such courage in the future."

She said, "In future, no one can attack like this, attack the police, take the law into their own hands in the name of politics, terror, deteriorate law and order, harm people's lives, harm national resources. If they can't, the police have to be persistent in these matters. They have to play their proper role whenever necessary."
