Prime Minister Hasina pays her respects at Bangabandhu's grave in Tungipara

Dhaka, August 12: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid floral tributes and prayed at the grave of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Tungipara on Friday. In the morning, she paid her respects by placing wreaths at Bangabandhu's tomb. After offering the wreath, she stood in silence for a while, paying deep respect to the memory of the architect of Bangladesh's independence.

The Prime Minister along with her family members prayed for the forgiveness of the departed souls of the Father of the Nation and other martyrs of the 15 August 1975 massacre at Tungipara. Sheikh Hasina prayed for good health and long life of her family members as well as continued peace, progress and prosperity of the country.

Local Awami League leaders, including Bangabandhu's granddaughter Sheikh Rehana's son Radwan Mujib Siddique, were present.

The Prime Minister crossed the Padma Bridge for the second time after the inauguration of the bridge on June 25 and reached Tungipara in Gopalganj at 10:30 am on Friday. Earlier on July 4 this year, she crossed the Padma Bridge and went to her ancestral home in Tungipara, Gopalganj by road for the first time. The Prime Minister left for Dhaka from Tungipara in the afternoon.
