Dhaka, April 26: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in Japan on a four-day official visit. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was given a red carpet welcome when she arrived in Tokyo on Tuesday afternoon at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

The plane carrying the Prime Minister and her entourage landed at Tokyo's Haneda International Airport at 4:45 PM local time on Tuesday (April 25). Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Takei Sansuke and Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan, Sahabuddin Ahmed, welcomed the Prime Minister at the airport. The Prime Minister was then given a guard of honor at the airport.

Earlier, the Prime Minister left Dhaka for Tokyo on the first leg of a 15-day official visit to Japan, the United States and the United Kingdom. The plane carrying the Prime Minister left Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 7:56 am on Tuesday. The Prime Minister was taken to the Akasaka Palace in a ceremonial motorcade from Patakior Airport. The Prime Minister will stay at this palace in Tokyo during his visit to Japan. Eight agreements are expected to be signed with Tokyo during the visit.

In a press conference on Monday, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said that after the meeting between the two prime ministers, eight agreements or memorandums of cooperation were signed in various sectors including agriculture, metro rail, industrial upgradation, ship recycling, customs matters, intellectual property, defense cooperation, ICT and cyber security cooperation.

Also, during the visit to Japan, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will have a courtesy call on Japanese Foreign Minister, President of JICA, President of Japan Bangladesh Parliamentary Friendship League, Governor of Japan Bank for International Cooperation, wife of late Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. During her visit to Japan, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will participate in many programs including the Bangladesh Investment Summit, a reception organized by the Bangladeshi community living in Japan.

During his visit to Japan, the Prime Minister will honor eminent Japanese citizens for their special contribution in the Great War of Liberation. He will also visit the Miraikan National Museum.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will leave for Washington on a United Airlines flight from Tokyo on Friday (April 28) afternoon local time. The Prime Minister will arrive at Washington Dallas International Airport in the afternoon local time. After the formalities at the airport, he will proceed to the residence during the tour.
