Prime Minister Hasina urges expats to counter conspiracy against Bangladesh

Dhaka, February 19: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon the Bangladeshi expats to give a befitting reply to the conspiracy against the country's prosperity.

"Some people do not want the progress of the country and the continuity of democracy. They are now conspiring against the prosperity of the country by spreading false information. You (expatriate Bangladeshis) have to respond to the conspiracy with correct information," said the prime minister during an exchange of views with expatriate Awami League leaders in Munich on Sunday afternoon.

She called upon Bangladeshi expatriates to involve themselves in the politics of the countries where they are staying.

The Prime Minister directed them to communicate with foreign leaders and present the true image of Bangladesh.

Sheikh Hasina said her government is establishing 100 special economic zones and several hi-tech parks across Bangladesh.

The Prime Minister urged expatriate Bangladeshis to invest in Bangladesh either personally or through foreign partners.

And in this way, the expatriate Bangladeshis can contribute to the socio-economic development of Bangladesh and its people.

Summarizing the steps taken by his government to ensure the overall development of the country, she said, "We have ensured development till the grass roots."

She said that Bangladesh has got the status of a developing country and will start its journey to become a developing country in 2026.

Describing each expatriate Bangladeshi as an ambassador of Bangladesh, she said, "So expatriate Bangladeshis can play an important role in smoothing the journey to build a developing country."

The Prime Minister said, "We are working towards making Bangladesh a developed, prosperous and smart Bangladesh by 2041."

Sheikh Hasina said that after 1975, the most free, fair and acceptable election was held in Bangladesh on January 7.
