Dhaka, December 17: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon the party leaders and workers to deal with the situation with patience.

"I would say to all of you, you have to deal with any situation with tolerance," she said.

"We will be more concerned about how much we have been able to do for the country than listening to what anyone has to say. Then we can make the right decision, do the right thing and we are doing it," she added.

The Prime Minister said this while addressing a meeting organised by Bangladesh Awami League on the occasion of Great Victory Day on Wednesday (December 16).

The Prime Minister said, "Some people are trying to talk about the sculpture of Bangabandhu. Bangladesh is a country of non-communal consciousness. People of all religions will have equal opportunities in Bangladesh. People of all religions have united and made this country independent by shedding blood in the war of liberation. Therefore, everyone will have equal rights in this country irrespective of religion and caste."

"Our intellectuals were killed just before the victory. They started on December 8 and 9 and we celebrate Martyred Intellectuals Day on the 14th."

Referring to the loss of all the brothers and sisters, Sheikh Hasina said, "I know the pain of losing. Many did not even find the body. After '75, not only did they kill the father of the nation, they also ruthlessly killed many leaders and activists of our Awami League-Chhatra League. Many bodies were not found. This torture is going on. We have seen everything from arson to militancy, terrorism, everything. '

The Prime Minister addressed the meeting in a video conference from Ganobhaban and addressed as the chief guest.

At the other end, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, presidium members Matia Chowdhury, Dr. Abdur Razzak, joint general secretary Dr. Hasan Mahmud, central leader Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League president Sheikh Bazlur Rahman, Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League president Abu Ahmed Mannafi and other party members. The leaders spoke from the party office on Bangabandhu Avenue. Top party leaders were also present at the central office at the time.
