Own Correspondent, Dhaka, March 18: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has pledged to ensure a bright future for the children of the country.

She said, "We want to build a better future for our children. I have also formulated a long term plan for this purpose."

On Thursday, on the occasion of the 102nd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children's Day-2022, the Prime Minister expressed this desire while addressing a function titled 'Tungipara: Fatherland in Heart' at Bangabandhu Mausoleum Complex in Tungipara, Gopalganj.

The National Implementation Committee in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs organized a discussion meeting and cultural program to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh has got the status of a developing country today. ‘We must turn Bangladesh into a developed and prosperous golden Bengal. That is our commitment," she said.

In this context, she outlined her government's Vision-2041 and Delta Plan-2100 and said, "I have made a plan on how this Bangladesh will be built by the year 2100."

Referring to his government's plan to make the future of children bright and beautiful, the Prime Minister said, "Our goal is for our children to be safe and have a beautiful life." This year, National Children's Day was celebrated under the theme 'Bangabandhu's Birthday Pledge, All Children Have Equal Rights'.

The programme started with the national anthem and was followed by an audio-visual presentation titled 'Mujib Year' with the theme song 'Tungipara: Fatherland in the Heart'.

Bangabandhu's grandson, Prime Minister's ICT Adviser and Sheikh Hasina's son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and Sheikh Rehana's son Radwan Mujib Siddique and others were present on the occasion.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the elder daughter of Bangabandhu, said that after her family members were killed, the country was ruled by murderers, war criminals, Al-Badrs and Razakars (accomplices of Pakistani forces), but she returned to fulfill her father's dream and change the destiny of the Bangladeshi people.

"I come back to the country to make sure that children do not live with the pain of losing family members like us, and they have a beautiful and prosperous life," she said.

Noting that the father of the nation loved children very much, the Prime Minister said her government, which was formed in 1996, declared March 17 as National Children's Day.

The Prime Minister said Bangabandhu liked to play with children. "When he (Bangabandhu) used to play with children, he felt like a child."

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also inaugurated the six-day Mujib Borsho (Mujib Year) Lokmela which will be held from March 21 to 26 at Government Sheikh Mujibur Rahman College premises.
