Dhaka, December 16: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the democratic process is continuing in the country from 2009 to 2022. The right of the people to vote is guaranteed. That is why today Bangladesh has got the status of a developing country. If BNP-Jamaat alliance was in power, Bangladesh would never have made such progress. Now the people have to choose what they want, the continuation of a dignified life or a life with the misery of BNP-Jamaat coalition misrule and mismanagement?

On the occasion of the Great Victory Day, the Prime Minister asked this question to the countrymen in his address to the nation at 7:30 pm on Thursday.

The Prime Minister said that the whole world is going through an unstable economic situation today. At the end of 2019, the world was hit by the coronavirus pandemic. In the two years of 2020 and 2021, a deep wound was created in the world economy. Many countries' economies collapsed. Our economy also suffers. Just as our economy was recovering from the damage caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine war broke out. And this war is not just a war of arms; Added to this is a terrible economic war. The effects of economic warfare are not confined to the borders of a single country, but spread globally. The post-Russia-Ukraine war economic embargo-reciprocal embargo has crippled the global economy.

The Prime Minister said that the country has reached a new height of socio-economic development in the last 14 years. Today, Bangladesh has joined the ranks of developing countries. The country today is self-sufficient in food grain production. This year, 4 crore 72 lakh tonnes of grains including 4 crore 4 lakh tonnes of rice have been produced. The production of various agricultural products including fish, meat, eggs, milk, vegetables, fruits has increased at a large rate. The poverty rate has come down from 40 percent to 20 percent. Per capita income rose from $543 to $2,824. Signup rate increased from 45% to 75%. Maternal and infant mortality rates have decreased.

Sheikh Hasina said that while the country is moving forward after overcoming various obstacles, a group against freedom and development is trying to create anarchy. See their past history. A part of them not only opposed the independence of Bangladesh, they killed people by being allies of the Pakistani invasion forces. After independence Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib banned their politics. War criminals were brought to justice. But on 15 August 1975, after killing the father of the nation and his family, Ziaur Rahman took power illegally and rehabilitated them in politics. After being resettled, they again started the politics of killing and terror.
