Dhaka, September 6: India on Tuesday accorded a ceremonial welcome to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the country's presidential palace. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed his Bangladeshi counterpart at the forecourt of the President's residence at 9:15 am local time.

A cavalcade of the President's bodyguards escorted the Prime Minister's motorcade from the Rashtrapati Bhavan gate to the forecourt. Later, a smart contingent of three branches of the Indian Armed Forces presented a guard of honor to Prime Minister Hasina.

At this time, the national anthems of the two countries were played. After that, Sheikh Hasina visited the guard and saluted. The Indian Prime Minister then introduced Sheikh Hasina to his cabinet colleagues in the presentation line. The Bangladeshi Prime Minister introduced her tour companions to Narendra Modi.

Bangladesh Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, Railway Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan, Prime Minister's Economic Affairs Adviser Dr Moshiur Rahman, Her Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman Fazlur Rahman, State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam, State Minister for ICT Department Junaid Ahmed Palak and State Minister of Water Resources Ministry Zahid Farooq along with her other companions were present at this time.

Earlier, India rolled out the red carpet to welcome Sheikh Hasina when she arrived at New Delhi's Palam Airport at 11:40 am local time on September 5 on a four-day state visit.
