Dhaka, 10 September 2023 : Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called upon world leaders to come forward with utmost sincerity to ensure a dignified life and a prosperous future for all.

Addressing a session on 'One Family' at the G20 Summit 2023 at the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on Saturday, September 9, she said, "As equal members of the Vaishika family, we must strive for a dignified life and a prosperous future for all."

In this context, Sheikh Hasina presented five points of recommendations to the G20 leaders with the aim of building a better world in the coming days by facing all the challenges with united efforts.

In her first recommendation, he said the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development should be at the top of the agenda of all multilateral initiatives, including the G20.

The second recommendation states that the G20 should facilitate the extension of tariff-free, quota-free market access and unilateral tariff preferences for transition from least developed to developing countries, and continued TRIPS concessions for a significant period after transition to ensure a smooth and sustainable transition.

A third opinion said the G-20 could stand by weak economies by keeping their markets open to ensure smooth, timely and unsecured supply of essential commodities, including agriculture.

Fourthly, she said, equal attention should be given to women, who make up half of the world's population, to build a peaceful, just and inclusive society.

In her final recommendation, Sheikh Hasina said South-South and triangular cooperation should be strengthened with the help of partners, international financial institutions, private sector and other stakeholders to ensure global human development.

"Considering the current world economy, it is time to work collectively for a fair and just economic order," she added.

She said, "I believe G-20 will be helpful in the development process of developing countries."

The head of government said the Covid-19 pandemic, sanctions and counter-sanctions that have disrupted global supply chains and food, fuel and fertilizer shortages have imposed unbearable living conditions on people around the world.

Sheikh Hasina mentioned, "Although we talk about one twenty, one family, are we doing anything to show that? Every night, more than 800 million people, or 10 percent of the world's population, go to bed hungry. Whereas the world spends 1.9 trillion dollars on military every year, only 5.5 billion of 26 hours of military spending could secure food for the most vulnerable."
