Dhaka, October 28: The Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) is going to provide practical classes and examination opportunities for the students of private universities with special consideration on condition. However, only students who are in the final semester will get this opportunity.

It will be implemented in compliance with strict hygiene rules. In this case, a distance of at least six feet should be maintained between the two students during class and examination.

The decision was taken at the UGC's virtual meeting on Tuesday (October 27). According to the decision, maximum of 10 students will be able to take part in lab classes and exams. Only one class can be taken in one day.

A member who attended the meeting said the university was not being opened. "We had to make such a decision just considering these students," the official said.

He added that students who are in their final semester will have the opportunity to personally participate in practical classes and exams. This decision has been taken in response to the application of several private universities.

All types of educational institutions in the country have been closed since March 18 due to coronavirus. The holiday has been extended till October 31. However, this holiday is increasing.

The education minister will announce the extension at a press conference on Thursday, ministry sources said.
