Public Administration Minister calls for formation of Covid-19 Prevention Committee in each neighbourhood

Dhaka, July 26: State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain has called for forming a coronavirus prevention committees in every neighbourhood to deal with Covid-19 infection. He was speaking as the chief guest at a meeting on Sunday (July 25) organized by the Meherpur district administration to discuss the implementation of the ongoing ban as a measure to curb the the spread of the deady virus.

"In order to deal with Covid-19, coronavirus prevention committees have to be formed in every neighborhood with people from all walks of life. Since the coronavirus crisis is likely to last a long time. So this committee also has to be prepared to work for a long time. The main function of this committee will be to distribute masks and motivate the people to wear them; If someone has corona symptoms, take them to the hospital immediately and arrange for tests and encourage everyone to get vaccinated. In addition, the committee will strengthen supervision in public places so that everyone abides by the hygiene rules," the minister said.

"At one time we were able to create a massive public opinion against militancy. As a result, we have succeeded in suppressing militancy. Besides, we have been able to stop the problems like child marriage and eve-teasing through social movement. This has been made possible by involving the common man. Similarly, a social movement has to be formed to increase public participation in the fight against Covid-19," he added.

"The responsibility of the people's representatives is much more in dealing with Covid-19. The people's representatives have to play a leading role in making the people aware and motivating them to follow the health rules," he said.
