Quader hints at political battle in December
Dhaka, December 6: Awami League General Secretary of BNP and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said, "There will be a game. This December will be a game. There will be a game in the next elections, a game in the movement, a game against money laundering. A game against stealing money, a game against stealing votes. It will be played against Hawa Bhaban, against corruption. It will be played against bad governance."
The Minister of Bridges said these things in the speech of the chief guest at the district Awami League's triennial conference at Noakhali Shaheed Bhulu Stadium on Monday (December 5).
Referring to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam, Awami League General Secretary said, "Mirza Fakhrul doesn't like the slogan 'Khela Hobe'. Some others don't like it. But I will give the slogan that the people of the whole country like."
Obaidul Quader also said, "'Next December 10, BNP will occupy Dhaka. Fakhrul Sahib, I want to say that our leaders and activists will be on guard in metropolitan districts, upazilas, unions and wards. Do you remember? BNP burnt a BRTC bus. On the Dhaka-Sylhet road. Sheikh Hasina's foundation stone has been burnt in the dark of night. They will bring fire-sticks, that's why they want to hold a rally at the party office. The Fakhruls call the huge Suhrawardy Udyan 'cage'."
Referring to BNP founder Ziaur Rahman as a traitor, the general secretary of Awami League said that he was the mastermind of the August 15 murder. On November 3, four national leaders were also killed at his behest.
The bridge minister said, "There is no alternative to unity for existence. I want peace. For the sake of Noakhali and politics, I have pardoned MP Ekram and my brother Quader Mirza. I don't want any discord in the Awami League of Noakhali."
Obaidul Quader inaugurated the conference by hoisting the flag around 12 noon. Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif was the main speaker in this under the chairmanship of district Awami League convener Khairul ANM Selim.
