RAB arrests man who threatened BSMMU doctor

Dhaka, August 17: The threat to kill Prof. Dr. SM Mustafa Zaman, a member of the expert medical board of Jamaat leader Delawar Hossain Sayeedi, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for crimes against humanity, has been arrested. RAB arrested him from Jhenaidah on Wednesday night.

Assistant Director of RAB Media Center ASP Al Amin said on Wednesday, "RAB has arrested Tafsirul Islam (23) from Maheshpur, Jhenaidah, who threatened to kill Dr. SM Mostafa Zaman, a doctor of BSMMU who treated Delaware Hossain Saeedee. He is being brought to Dhaka for further interrogation."

Earlier, Dr. Mustafa Zaman went to the Dhanmondi Model Police Station and made a general diary (GD) about the death threat on Tuesday.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhanmondi Model Police Station Parvez Islam said that he appeared at the police station and made a GD regarding the death threat to Professor Dr. SM Mustafa Zaman. In GD he gave information about threats in Facebook group and messenger.

Delawar Hossain Sayeedi was in Kashimpur jail since 2019. He was arrested on June 29, 2010 from his house in Shaheen Bagh of the capital. On August 13, Delaware Hossain Sayeedi was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University due to illness. He died on August 14 at 8:40 pm while undergoing treatment under the supervision of Professor Chowdhury Meshkat Ahmed, chairman of the Cardiology Department. Dr. Mostafa Zaman was a member of the specialist medical board of Delaware Hossain Sayeedi at BSMMU.
