Rain lashes Bangladesh on Thursday, country to experience showers for two more days

Dhaka, May 12: It has been raining in different parts of Bangladesh since last May 9 due to the effect of thunderstorms. Heavy to very heavy (89 mm or more) rainfall has been recorded in three parts of the coastal areas in the last two days.

Clouds and sunshine were playing hide and seek in the sky of Dhaka from Thursday morning. But after noon, the clouds continue to increase. It started raining around 2:15 pm. However, the rain stopped again at 3 o'clock in the afternoon.

It rained in all sections for the last 24 hours from 6 am on Wednesday (May 11) to 6 am on Thursday. However, there was little rain in Rangpur division. The highest rainfall at this time was in Sylhet, 78 mm. Dhaka received 34 mm of rain on Wednesday.

According to the meteorological office, light to moderate rain or thundershowers with thundershowers or thundershowers are possible in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions in the next 24 hours from 9 am on Thursday. There may also be moderate to heavy rainfall in some parts of the country. During this time day and night temperatures across the country may remain almost unchanged.

According to the weather forecast for the inland river ports of the country till 1 pm on Thursday, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Comilla and Sylhet region will be temporarily rained with thunderstorms at 60 to 80 kmph from west or northwest. Can River ports in these areas have been asked to display the second naval warning signal.

Cyclone Ashani has already left. However, Bangladesh may have rain for two more days. The weather is expected to improve from May 14, meteorologists said.
