Rape Rape in the name of blood donation, two taken in remand
Dhaka, September 26, 2020: Arrested for raping a woman while collecting blood for her dying husband. The court granted a two-day remand to Monwar Hossain alias Sajib, 43, and his assistant Mashnu Ara Begum alias Shilpi, 40.
Police produced them in the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's Court on Sunday (September 28th). Mirpur Model Police Sub-Inspector Tapan Kumar Biswas requested to remand them for seven days for proper investigation of the case. Following the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Devdas Das granted a two-day remand.
Earlier on Friday (September 25), a special team of RAB-2 arrested them from a flat called Shifa Villa in Manipuripara in the capital's Mirpur around 8 pm.
RAB-2 Assistant Director (Media) ASP. Abdullah Al Mamun said the victim admitted her sick husband to the medicine department of Suhrawardy Hospital around 4pm on Friday. The doctor in charge advised the husband to donate blood urgently.
When the victim went to the front of the blood bank on the second floor of the women's hospital and saw three or four men sitting there, she said that if she wanted to know about the blood, Monwar Hossain alias Sajib would arrange for blood. Later, at around 1.30 pm, he was taken to the artist's house in Mirpur in the name of arranging blood. Monwar took her to the house and raped her with the help of the artist.
ASP said. Abdullah Al Mamun added that the victim kept the rape a secret for fear of public embarrassment and because of her husband's illness. On the same day, around 7:30 pm, they called her husband's mobile phone and said that blood had been arranged - he sent your wife to the second floor of the hospital. The woman then told her husband about the matter for fear of being raped again.
After that, they complained to the RAB-2 commander and the initial truth of the incident was found. In this context, a team of RAB-2 arrested Monwar Hossain and his associate artist. During the preliminary interrogation, Monwar confessed to raping the victim with the help of the artist. Monwar said he had an illicit relationship with the artist.
