Sona Masjid Land Port Recommendation for opening immigration at Sona Masjid land port
Dhaka, November 30: The parliamentary committee has recommended the introduction of immigration system at Sonamsjid land port under Shibganj police station of Chapainawabganj district of Rajshahi division. This recommendation was made in the meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Shipping held on Tuesday (November 29) at the Sangsad Bhavan.
Under the chairmanship of committee president Rafiqul Islam, committee members Mazaharul Haque Pradhan, Ranjit Kumar Roy, Mahfuzur Rahman, Samil Uddin Ahmed and SM Shahzada participated in the meeting.
According to the press release of the Parliament Secretariat, the committee recommended to solve the various problems on the Bangladesh-India border through discussions with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Besides, the use of solar system is recommended in land ports with emphasis on energy saving.
The committee has recommended to discuss with the Roads and Public Ways Department to consider the construction of runways at various points of the wide road to be constructed at Payra Port.
Besides, it is recommended to connect the Payra port with other river ports including the capital Dhaka, conduct commercial activities and procure the necessary number of dredgers for the navigability of the channel.
