Padma Bridge Record Tk 4.19 crore toll collection on Padma Bridge in a single day
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, July 10: The highest daily toll collection on the Padma Bridge has been recorded. A maximum of 31,723 vehicles crossed the Padma Bridge on Friday ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha. Tk 4 crore 19 lakh 39 thousand 650 rupees toll has been collected from those vehicles, which is the highest record of toll collection in a single day so far.
These tolls were collected from vehicles crossing the bridge from 12 am on Thursday till 11:59 pm on Friday.
According to the sources related to the bridge, 19,667 vehicles crossed the bridge through the toll plaza on the Mawa end from 12 am on Thursday to 11:59 pm on Friday. Tk 2 crore 47 lakh 50 thousand 250 were collected as toll from those vehicles. At the same time, 12,056 vehicles crossed the bridge through the toll plaza on the Jajira end, from which toll was collected Tk 1 crore 71 lakh 89 thousand 400.
Dr. Mahmudur Rahman, executive engineer of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority, said at around 11 am on Saturday that the highest number of vehicles had crossed the bridge in the last 24 hours ahead of Eid. The highest single-day toll has been collected so far.
Most of the vehicles that crossed the bridge on Friday were private small cars. Among the vehicles crossed on that day, 13,159 were private vehicles. Besides, 7,722 buses also crossed the Padma Bridge.
