Own Correspondent, Dhaka, August 29: Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni has said that religion-based politics is banned in all educational institutions of the country.

On Sunday (August 28), the minister gave this information in response to the question of Nazrul Islam Babu, MP of the government party in the National Parliament.

Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury chaired the question and answer table. In his question, Nazrul Islam Babu wanted to know whether the government will take any action to stop religious-based student politics in all educational institutions of the country.

The Education Minister said that due to the ban on various religious-based political parties, religious-based student politics has been stopped in all educational institutions of the country. If political activities of any banned party are observed in educational institutions, immediate action is taken. The government is always alert and active in this regard. No student organization can carry out activities against the prevailing laws of the country.

While answering this question, the Education Minister highlighted the clauses related to the implementation of the principle of religion, state governance, and the principle of religious neutrality according to Articles 2(a), 8(1), and 12 of the Constitution.

In response to the question of Nurunnabi Chowdhury of Bhola-3 seat, the Education Minister said that instead of all the traditional curriculum/syllabus of the private universities, initiatives have been taken to introduce a result-based curriculum, which will be implemented by October 31 this year.

Dr. Dipu Moni also said that Bangladesh National Qualification Framework has been formulated and all universities are being brought under accreditation. Private universities are being visited unannounced. A review of the student fee structure of all private universities is underway.
