Restrictions imposed in mosques, other places of worship amid rising COVID-19 cases

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, June 29: To curb the spread of coronavirus, nine instructions must be followed in congregational prayers in mosques. In addition, instructions have been given to follow in the case of other religious places of worship.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs said in an emergency notification on Tuesday (June 28).

It said that due to the rapid rise in the rate of coronavirus infection in the country, considering the current situation, the Department of Health has issued a directive on June 26 imposing some restrictions. In view of this, in the current context of the country, the Ministry of Religion has requested the religious institutions of all religions and mosques to follow the nine guidelines for congregational prayers.

All have been instructed to follow Covid-19 restrictions, including wearing masks, maintaining physical distance and hygiene norms and sanitizing hands as well as the gathering places, in the mosques and other places of worship.

In case of violation of these instructions, the local administration and law enforcement agencies will take legal action against the responsible persons.
