Return ticket holders demand priority

Bangladesh Live News | @banglalivenews | 27 Sep 2020, 12:29 am

Saudi expatriates are protesting for the sale of tickets on a priority basis, excluding the token system. They have been staying at the office of Saudi Arabia (Saudi Arabian Airlines) at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Karwan Bazar since Saturday morning. At one stage, they blocked the road of Karwanbazar around 11:15 am.

The expatriates said that those of us who returned from Saudi Arabia with return tickets are going to Saudi Arabia with mass tokens without any priority. Whoever has the money, gets the token first. However, no special arrangements have been made for those who came to Bangladesh after buying tickets to Saudi Arabia. So what is the benefit of buying tickets in advance?

"I had a ticket to return to Saudi Arabia on March 16," said Russell Hassan, an expatriate. Upon hearing the news of the flight, we came here to know the new date of the ticket. When I came here, I saw that I was given a serial after 2,000. They are starting to sell tickets on a token basis, ‘get the serial first’. Those whose departure date is July-August also got our previous serial. But we are not getting tickets even though we are March passengers. Saudi authorities are trading tickets. That is why we are protesting.

Meanwhile, senior officials of Tejgaon division of the police came to the spot at 11 am on Saturday. Meanwhile, one of them miked for the protesters, saying, "Stay calm." Leave the road. Also make sure that no one but the ticket seeker can enter the crowd.

Meanwhile, token number 751 to 1200 will be given to the token holders from the morning of September 27 and token holders will be given from September 26, 1201 to one thousand five hundred. However, police said that an additional 200 people may be given tickets today.
