Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 7 November 2023: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman has announced a reward for the surrender of those who set fire to vehicles and hurled petrol bombs amid the ongoing blockade. He announced this in a discussion meeting with the DMP regarding security measures of Petrol Pump Owners Association on Monday.

DMP Commissioner said, if the vandals are handed over, a reward of 20,000 taka will be given.

He said, we have arrested many of those who are setting cars on fire, hurling petrol bombs, violence and vandalism at various places. Many eyewitnesses and locals handed them over to the police. Dhaka city is very big. Many people live here. Some events are happening. But the police have covered many incidents. Many have been arrested and brought under the law. Arrested many people. We will also give cash reward to those who help us in making red handed arrests.

Stating that the police are active to make Dhaka safe, the DMP commissioner said that the police are searching every petrol pump at least once a night. Police activities are visible during political events. Police are working in clothes and white clothes. Our intelligence activities are also continuing. He said, how we can continue safely in the coming days, this is our main objective now. A political party program is underway. You know that it is natural to have a political program in a democratic state. Everyone has to accept it. Because we all like different teams.

However, the DMP Commissioner commented that if there is burning in the name of political program, we must resist as conscious citizens. He appealed to the petrol pump owners saying that earlier the pumps were set on fire during the strike-blockade. That's why we all need to be careful. It is a rule for the police to visit the pump at least once a month. If there is any problem, contact the nearest police station. Install CCTV cameras at petrol pumps.
